Home health agencies in Massachusetts might hit a wall when it comes to the Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) checks reported the Worcester Telegram and Gazette. Currently, a CORI check collects publicly available records. Agencies obtain CORI data to check if a potential employee has a criminal background. The online CORI check only asked for an individual's first and last name and never took into account if the individual changed his or her name in the past or goes by additional names. Even with a social security number, information is only compiled on the first and last name given. This is causing some agencies to doubt the CORI checks' reliability, reported the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.
