Nationwide security breach notification on the horizon

Several bills waiting to go before Congress would enact a nationwide security breach notification requirement, though they may be weaker than state laws already on the books, reports the Detroit Free Press.
The House and Senate have failed in past years to agree on a notification bill; four pending bills would address the problem. However, some worry that a federal law would preempt stronger state laws, the Free Press reports. Thirty-five states currently have notification laws.
