The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) will merge its current credentials for information privacy and information security into one credential for information privacy and security. AHIMA will unveil the new certified in healthcare privacy and security (CHPS) credential in April.

The CHPS credential indicates "advanced competency in designing, implementing, and administering comprehensive privacy and security protection programs in all types of healthcare environments and settings," according to the AHIMA Web site.
