New FAQ addresses NPI

Institutions should include their own national provider identifiers (NPI) in the "attending physician" field when submitting vaccine roster bills to fiscal intermediaries or regional home health intermediaries if an NPI is not available for claims processing, according to a new frequently asked question (FAQ) on the CMS Web site.
Providers have until May 23, 2007, to implement the NPI.
