CMS provides NPI guidance

If you plan to retire in April 2007 but will not be submit some claims until after the May 23, 2007 compliance date for the NPI, you still need to obtain the new identifier, CMS has advised.

CMS also announced an upcoming NPI roundtable for all healthcare professionals on Tuesday, September 26 at 2 pm (Eastern). The roundtable will address common questions related to Medicare's guidance on subparts. Call 877/203-0044 (pass code 4795739) to participate. To ask questions, write to the appropriate e-mail address below by September 8:

  • If you bill a fiscal intermediary: NPIQuestionsfromFIBillers@cms.hhs.gov

  • If you bill a carrier: NPIQuestionsfromCarrierBillers@cms.hhs.gov
