CMS issues NPI guidance, revised resources

Submit legacy identifiers for all payers-not just Medicare- when applying for an NPI, CMS advised in a recent notice. The information will aid payers in developing crosswalks to the NPI. In addition, include the associated state name when reporting a Medicaid number.
CMS also provided a revised summary, user manual, and technical companion guide for electronic file interchange-also known as bulk enumeration.
