Healthcare organizations will soon be able to apply online to conduct electronic file interchange (EFI), known as bulk enumeration of national provider identifiers (NPIs), according to new information on the CMS Web site.
EFI allows organizations to obtain multiple NPIs for their providers through a streamlined application process. CMS added several documents regarding bulk enumeration, including an EFI summary, user manual, and technical companion. View these documents here.
Providers can begin the EFI process by late spring 2006, according to CMS. Click here for more information.
