State governors can submit proposals for participation in the Health Information Security and Privacy Collaboration (HISPC), according to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.
RTI International, an independent, non-profit organization will oversee the HISPC studies to examine how privacy and security policies affect the interoperability of electronic health information, including electronic health records, e-prescribing, and e-billing. Governors will compete for the funding of 40 projects.
State responses are due by March 1, 2006. RTI International will hold a conference call to assist the planning of proposals on February 8, 2006 from 1 to 4 pm (Eastern).
