The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) awarded an $8,600 grant to Pratt Regional Medical Center (PRMC) to assist with the hospital's HIPAA compliance, reports The Pratt Tribune.

The grant is part of an $800,000 effort by KDHE's Health Resources and Services Administration Small Hospital Improvement Program to aid small hospitals in the following three areas:

  • HIPAA compliance
  • Medicare and Medicaid billing systems
  • Quality improvement measures

Pratt, KS-based PRMC will use the grant to update its computer systems to help meet HIPAA's requirements. For the past four years, KDHE has awarded the grant to PRMC, which it has used for HIPAA compliance each time.
