Can we ever deny a request for an accounting?

Requests can only be denied when made by the personal representative of the individual and the covered entity reasonably believes that

  • the personal representative is abusing or neglecting the individual
  • treating the person as the individual's personal representative could endanger the individual
  • it is not in the best interest of the individual to treat the person as the individual's personal representative
