Survey: Laptops most stolen at the office

A survey by Credant Technologies found that the most common place laptops are stolen is at the office, which accounts for 29% of the locations of all laptop heists worldwide, reports www.mobilevillage.com.

The survey also found that most of the laptops were not data-encrypted. Further findings include:

  • 90% report that their stolen laptop contained sensitive and confidential corporate data not intended for public view
  • 21% of respondents report they used no security measures or encryption of any kind on their stolen laptops
  • 10% of respondents report using a full-disk encryption security product

The June survey encompassed 283 respondents.
