A group of pharmacies and providers have compiled medical information on Hurricane Katrina evacuees into a centralized database and made it available to other providers, according to a Washington Post article. The pharmacies include CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, and Wal-Mart.

The group organized the system in 10 days through daily conference calls between state and federal officials, emergency healthcare providers, government lawyers, and others, said the Post.

The database contains more than 800,000 records for people from regions affected by Katrina. At designated evacuee shelters, doctors can go online and look up prescription drug records.
