The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released an evaluation version of Vista-Office® on Monday.
The software is a version of the same electronic health record (EHR) software used by the Veterans Health Administration, adapted for use in physicians' offices.
"The evaluation version will be distributed by qualified vendors and evaluated for usability, effectiveness, implementation and potential for what is known as interoperability, or the ability to communicate, exchange, and use data with other systems and software," CMS said in a September 19 press release.
