WEDI working to bring providers and payers together

The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) is working to enable providers and payers to cooperate on claims submissions, with the goal of reducing administration expenses, according to Healthcare IT News. A subgroup of the organization is beginning work on a paper to define how an ideal system would work in facilitating electronic transactions between providers and payers.

The subgroup, 4C, hopes to produce a document within a few months, and the initiative represents just a part of WEDI's overall strategic plans. The 4C subgroup's membership includes payers, providers, vendors, professional organizations and government officials. Members meet every other week through telephone conferences.
