A disgruntled former employee of Kaiser Permanente-a woman who calls herself the "Diva of Disgruntled"-posted protected health information including patient names, medical record numbers, and lab tests, about 140 Kaiser patients on her Weblog, according to the Mercury News.

The former Kaiser employee claims that Kaiser already had the information on its Web site and that she posted it in another place to prove how easily anyone could access it.

Kaiser contacted the patients regarding the security breach, reported the Mercury News. If necessary, the health system will take legal action against the woman. Under HIPAA, she could face up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $250,000.
