This spring, NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, Inc., a company that provides electronic medical record and practice management solutions, will test standard transaction sets with Empire Medicare Services in New York, reported Health Data Management (HDM).

They will test the relative ease of attachments such as lab results, specialty consultation notes, discharge notes, initial assessments, and nursing and physician notes, among others, according to HDM.

The results of the pilot could increase the probability and decrease the difficulty of creating and putting into place a HIPAA electronic attachments standard.
