Using three surveys broken down by provider type, a group consisting of the Association for Electronic Health Care Transactions, Health Level Seven, the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI), and the Accredited Standards Committee X12 put out a call for information on healthcare claims attachments. The group also asked for information on electronic claims attachments, most likely the next transaction standard to be adopted under HIPAA, according to the WEDI Web site.

Within the three surveys, questions vary by provider type and include topics such as

  • facility size
  • claim volume
  • number of claims requiring attachments
  • types of attachments
  • future plans for use of attachments

The group aims to get feedback from a broad cross-section of healthcare organizations. Due to the expected volume of responses, it will accept only surveys completed via the Web. Go to the WEDI Web site to take the quiz that applies to your organization.
