The Office of the National Coordinator Health Information Technology (ONCHIT), part of the Department of Health and Human Services, announced a request for information (RFI) on options to deploy, operate, and sustain the exchange of health information, according to the ONCHIT Web site.
In the near future, ONCHIT will address the barrier of interoperability and states that "health information technology organizations, healthcare providers, industry associations, and other stakeholders all have important insights that will inform future deliberation."
The comment period will last 60 days, ending January 15, 2005. Providers can e-mail ONCHIT or call toll free at 877/474-3918. The organization will also hold a technical assistance call on December 6. Providers can find details about the call on ONCHIT's Web site.
Go to the Federal Register to read the official RFI.
