Thirty-seven percent of respondents to a survey conducted by Health Data Management and PeopleSoft Inc. plan to implement a learning management solution (LMS) in the next year to train staff on areas such as electronic medical records, competency assessment, and HIPAA. Learning management solutions integrate many aspects of healthcare organizations and ensure that the correct staff receive training and that the training stays on schedule.

More than half of respondents reported "aligning learning with the goals and objectives of the enterprise" as the greatest benefit of an LMS. Thirty percent listed regulatory matters (e.g., those involving HIPAA, OSHA, etc.) as their primary initiative right now.

Two hundred healthcare professionals participated in the survey. Respondents included CEOs, chief learning officer, managers, human resource personnel, and staff from clinical, training, and information technology departments. PeopleSoft is an enterprise application software company. Visit the PeopleSoft Web site for more information.
