Texas Health Resources (THR) was one of three winners awarded the American Hospital Association's 2004 Most Wired Innovators Award. THR won for its online HIPAA training tool, which allows the health system's 17,000 employees and 4,000 physicians to receive online training on the HIPAA regs at their own pace, specialized to their own needs, according to a THR press release.
THR started using this training method because it was cost effective and allowed employees to train in a secure environment with minimal distractions, David Muntz, chief information office of THR, said in the press release. "This technologically advanced system will support our future training deployment for years to come," he added.
Almost 1,300 hospitals competed for this honor. Names of the winners and their award-winning ideas were printed in the July issue of Hospital & Health Networks, the journal of the American Hospital Association.
