A federal appeals court declared unconstitutional Arizona laws that require abortion clinics to release patient records to state regulators and to undergo searches without warrants, the Associated Press (AP) reported June 19.
Again in the name of privacy, the judges slashed a requirement within the legislation that mandates clinics to send ultrasound results to an outside party for review. Ultrasounds are used to determine the gestational stage of the fetus, according to the AP.
The now defunct legislation was enacted in 1999 after a woman died from a clinic abortion, reported the AP.
