An Iowa couple is suing the Family Health Center of Storm Lake, IA, for releasing the wife's medical records for use in an investigation of an infant murdered in 2002, reports the Associated Press (AP), May 27.
Police accessed medical records for women who took pregnancy tests or gave birth nine months before the infant's body was found to rule out possible suspects. The couple contends that the court order was not selective enough and thereby violated privacy rights and compromised standards of care, according to the AP.
