HIPAA is blocking a veterans' interest group from providing necessary outreach programs, reports PR week April 5.

The Department of Defense (DOD) and Veterans' Affairs (VA) aren't keeping up with the needs veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan have for benefits and services says Disabled American Veterans (DAV), reports PR Week.

DAV stepped in to offer additional resources for veterans, especially those who are injured, but they are often stopped short when the DOD refuses to release veterans' names on account of HIPAA, says PR Week.
