OCR provides privacy resources for small providers

Small providers can now find the answers to their HIPAA privacy questions on the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) Web site. OCR published a Web page July 23 with links and guidance documents specifically targeted at small providers and other small businesses covered by HIPAA's privacy rule.

Resources include the following:

  • Summary of the privacy rule
  • Frequently asked questions
  • Sample business associate contract provisions
  • Decision tool for determining covered entity status
  • Guidance documents on business associates; incidental uses and disclosures; workers' compensation laws; marketing
