HHS publishes correction to enforcement rule

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) published a correction to the first part of its HIPAA enforcement rule, "Civil Money Penalties: Procedures for Investigations, Imposition of Penalties, and Hearings," in the April 28 Federal Register.

In the correction, HHS clarifies that the interim final rule will be effective from May 19, 2003, to September 16, 2004, not September 16, 2003.
