Pay-per-view: An up-to-date charge description master requires a team effort

With quarterly code updates and other regulatory changes from CMS throughout the year, the chargemaster coordinator has to constantly monitor the healthcare landscape, but the final few months of the year remain the most challenging.
 
By the time the inpatient updates in the IPPS final rule in early August for October implementation have been decided, CMS has released the OPPS and Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) proposed rules and chargemaster coordinators can begin work identifying possible changes on the outpatient side.
