Every provider has basic information he or she must document in the health record, says Lisa Gingerich, RN, BSN, CCDS, a CDI consultant with MedPartners. A corresponding medical diagnosis related to what the physician treated, evaluated, monitored, etc., is the tip of the iceberg, but after nearly 10 years in the role, Gingerich decided her physicians could use a little help remembering.
So Gingerich turned to her coworker Melissa Jennings, RN, BSN, CCDS, to help with formatting and the duo created a tip sheet with a stop sign to catch physician’s attention. “The language is short and sweet and to the point of essentially what’s needed,” Gingerich says. “My hope is that it can be used globally—in the inpatient units, break rooms, emergency room—as an easy to read reminder.”
Take a look at their creation and then peruse the ACDIS Forms & Tools Library for a collection of other tip cards, physician education posters, and other items.
