A new MedLearn Matters Article seeks volunteers for ICD-10-CM/PCS end-to-end testing set to begin in July. The tests will demonstrate whether CMS systems including Medicare claims, MACs, and the Common Electronic Data Interchange (CEDI) contractors are ready for the ICD-10 implementation.
Each MAC will select 32 volunteers (submitters); potential submitters must complete the volunteer form on their Medicare Administrator Contractor website by March 24, and contractors will notify selected volunteers by April 14. Testing will begin with claims submitted July 21-25.
CMS will hold an education session focused on clinical documentation and coding practices as they relate to ICD-10-CM/PCS on Tuesday, March 18, noon, Eastern. This training will discuss why good clinical documentation and coding practices are important; the effect ICD-10 will have on clinician and coder relationships; and identifying documentation essentials for specialties, clinical areas, and patient conditions.
