News: CMS adds spending per beneficiary to Hospital Compare data

CMS’ Hospital Compare website now also illustrates how much facilities spend per Medicare beneficiary, according to American Hospital Association news brief.

The “Spending per Hospital Patient with Medicare” measure compares how much care at a given facility costs Medicare against other facilities and national trends for Medicare Part A and Part B payments. The measure includes services provided to Medicare patients three days prior to the hospital stay, during the stay, and up to 30 days after discharge.
