AHIMA secured a “prestigious” role in the ongoing development of electronic healthcare information standards, according to an August 30 release. It will serve as the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) delegated to the International Organization for Standardization’s Technical Committee 215 (ISO/TC 215). The committee develops interoperability standards related to electronic health records, personal health records, and health information exchange.

AHIMA takes over from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, better known as HIMSS, which served as secretariat for the past eight years.
