Upon completion of an audit, package it in a manner that provides meaningful, easy-to-follow results. There is no right or wrong way to assemble an audit package; numerous different styles and formats merit consideration. A useful audit package is one that is easy to follow for anyone who reviews the file, regardless of that individual’s experience.

Engage provider leadership and ask what information they want included in the audit package.

Regardless of the format selected and documents included, be consistent with respect to assembling the final product every time. This attention to detail produces a well-organized audit and enables others to know exactly where to find certain documents within an audit package.

Audit packages given to providers and management should include an audit summary report, adjustment worksheet, and missed revenue report.
