Job Description: Position will establish a well-constructed CDI program framework, including policies and procedures. Facilitates and obtains appropriate physician documentation for any clinical conditions or procedures to support the appropriate severity of illness, expected risk of mortality, and complexity of care of the patient. Develops remediation plan to address necessary changes to documentation in advance of ICD-10 implementation. Educates members of the patient care team, including attending physicians, allied health practitioners, Nursing, HIM, Quality, and Case Management to develop documentation tools and strategies (i.e. electronic record, forms/order sets, dictation templates, etc.) designed to assure appropriate clinical documentation to assure compliance with quality and coding standards. Serves as educational/informational resource to the Medical Staff as needed to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Audits records retrospectively to validate accuracy of concurrent process and identify opportunities for improvement. QUALIFICATIONS: * Graduate of Health Information Management RHIA, RHIT, CCS or RN licensure. * Extensive clinical experience in an acute care setting with advanced clinical expertise * Strong understanding of clinical documentation * Knowledge of revenue cycle and regulatory environment. * Presentation, training, and communication skills essential.
