CMS published the 2012 Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) proposed rule May 5 in the Federal Register. CMS’ proposals and clarifications include changes to MS-DRGs for excisional debridement, a new hospital-acquired condition, and further clarification of the three-day payment window.

The agency will accept comments on the proposed rule until June 20.
