CMS released a number of helpful ICD-10 items recently including:
- The written transcript and audio recording for its “Preparing for ICD-10 Implementation in 2011,” January 12 conference. To access the file, scroll to the “Downloads” section and select the appropriate file.
- The agendas for the ICD-9-CM Coordination & Maintenance Committee Meeting on March 9-10, 2011 are now available. This will be the last meeting to address ICD-9-CM and ICD-10 code updates before the partial code freeze is implemented. The agenda is posted in the “Downloads” section at http://www.cms.gov/ICD9ProviderDiagnosticCodes/03_meetings.asp and http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/icd/icd9cm_maintenance.htm. Handouts will be available a few days before the meeting.
- The ICD-10 MS-DRGs v28 Definitions Manual (based on fiscal year [FY] 2011 MS-DRGs) is posted in the “Related Links Inside CMS” section. This update is part of the ICD-10 MS-DRG Conversion Project which uses the General Equivalence Mappings (GEMs) to convert current CMS payment systems. Although CMS is sharing the information from this project, that these are not the finalized ICD-10 MS-DRGs, which will be subject to formal rulemaking.
- The ICD-10 abbreviated titles for both ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS have been posted on the CMS website at http://www.cms.gov/ICD10/11b1_2011_ICD10CM_and_GEMs.asp and http://www.cms.gov/ICD10/11b_2011_ICD10PCS.asp.
