CMS now requiring ABN review as part of MAC, CERT, RAC, and ZPIC documentation requests

On December 10 CMS released Transmittal 361, Change Request 6988 that MACs, CERT, RACs, and ZPICs will request a mandatory advanced beneficiary notice (ABN) as part of the additional documentation request (ADR) on all claims undergoing complex medical record review.
This change will be effective January 12, 2011.
