Facilities will soon be able to certify their HIPAA compliance programs with the American Accreditation Healthcare Commission, also known as URAC.
URAC will offer the "HIPAA Privacy Accreditation" and "HIPAA Security Accreditation" programs, which will allow health plans, providers, clearinghouses, and business associates to demonstrate that their HIPAA compliance programs are on the right track.
Draft standards for the privacy program will be released for public comment in early February. The draft security standards will be released for review and comment soon thereafter.
