FY 2011 IPPS proposed rule spurs discussions about regulatory hot topics

The fiscal year (FY) 2011 IPPS proposed rule released April 19 addresses several highly debated topics. They include:
- A sizable documentation and coding adjustment (DCA)
- A potential code freeze in anticipation of ICD-10
- A closer look at payment implications of hospital-acquired conditions (HAC) and the present on admission (POA) indicator
