I was trained that when a patient comes in for dental pain and the physician performs a dental block for the pain, we code the procedure of the dental block. But when a patient comes in for dental pain and has an abscess, and the physician performs an [incision and drainage] or aspirates the abscess, we don't code the dental block because that is part of the evaluation and management coding.

Where can I find guidelines to support this?
