A patient presents with angioedema and respiratory failure. The patient was intubated in the ER and had continued respiratory failure. Our clinical staff members were not able to wean him from the ventilator until the sixth day of admission. I cannot find any references regarding angioedema in Coding Clinic or the Faye Brown coder reference book. The patient was taking lisinopril in the prescribed dose. Can you please provide any additional information about how to code this claim?
