A few years ago, Kristen Bliss, RHIA, RHIT, director of medical record management at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL, was tasked with developing a productivity incentive plan for her coders and transcriptionists. "It wasn't so much trying to instill a program to get everybody to be productive; it really was to incentivize them to go above and beyond," Bliss says. "So we reward what goes beyond expectation.
