Nearly 20% of healthcare providers have already received Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) documentation requests, according to a benchmarking survey of more than 400 healthcare providers conducted by HCPro in January 2010. The RAC additional documentation requests indicate that the RACs have begun to conduct complex audits.
In addition, 8% of survey respondents had already received at least one RAC denial.
Editor’s note: The full survey results will be released in an upcoming issue of the HCPro newsletter, Medical Records Briefing.
