TIP: Create security incident response team

Editor’s note: This is the fourth in a series of tips in HIPAA Weekly Advisor about preventing breaches.
Be prepared in case of a breach. Assign an individual to be responsible for organizing responses to security incidents. Appoint a core team to conduct the investigation and include representatives from:
- IT
- Human resources
- Risk management
- Legal
- Security
- Administrative
- Staff members directly involved in the incident
Build your team carefully and conduct mock breaches.
