CMS has contracted with the TMF Health Quality Institute to again release Program for Evaluating Payment Patterns Electronic Reports (PEPPER) data in 2010.

“Many hospitals use PEPPER data to identify areas for quality improvement and prepare for greater Medicare oversight by auditors such as RACs,” according to an American Hospital Association release.

The electronic reports contain data for hospitals about MS-DRGs and discharges at high risk for payment errors. However, state Medicare Quality Improvement Organizations will no longer be distributing the reports. Hospitals will now be able to receive PEPPER data via My QualityNet. The reports should be available on or around the following dates:
  • January 25, 2010
  • March 24, 2010
  • May 24, 2010
  • August 24, 2010
  • October 25, 2010
