Operative notes for OB/GYN procedures can be long and complex, and coders need to know how to sift through the detailed information to ensure accurate code assignment.
When you code OB/GYN procedures, remember that ICD-9 codes 630–679 in Chapter 11 (complications of pregnancy, childbirth, and the puerperium) of the ICD-9 Manual take sequencing priority over other chapters.
