The correct answer is a, The Fates. The Fates appeared as old women, each holding a tool. Clotho ("spinner") held a spindle for spinning the thread of each person's life. Lachesis ("allotter") measured the length of each life with her measuring rod. Atropos ("inevitable") cut the thread of life at the end, using her scissors.
