Congratulations are in order to one of our esteemed colleagues, John C. Parmigiani, MS, BES, president of John C. Parmigiani & Associates, LLC, in Ellicott City, MD.

Before the afternoon session of the 17th annual national HIPAA Summit at the Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC, September 16, the conference leaders recognized Parmigiani with the HIPAA Summit Distinguished Service Award. It is given yearly to those dedicated to HIPAA privacy and security compliance.

Steven S. Lazarus, Ph.D., FHIMSS, president of the Boundary Information Group in Denver and former chair of WEDI, presented the award to Parmigiani for his tireless efforts and commitment to the industry.

Parmigiani served as a co-chair of Wednesday’s session. He is the former director of enterprise standards for the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA), now the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Parmigiani is also one of the authors of our HIPAA Update blog.
