Understand changes for restraint and seclusion requirements to ensure survey success

Note name change
Behavioral restraints are placed on patients who demonstrate violent/self-destructive behavior. Similarly, medical/acute care is given to those patients who demonstrate non-violent/non–self-destructive behavior.
Organizations must determine whether patients fit in either of these two new categories, and policies should be changed accordingly. Patients who previously had not been identified as behavioral patients now may fall within the category of violent or self-destructive behavior.
