Tip: Differentiate between packaged and bundled services

To distinguish between bundled and packaged services, remember that bundling applies to coding and packaging applies to reimbursement.
Packaged services have an N status indicator. Bundled services have codes with status indicators Q1, Q2, or Q3. Even though packaged codes still come with an N status code, CMS may still reimburse for them. It simply indicates that the service is packaged.
CMS is packaging more drugs and biologicals, and staff should closely monitor status indicators for them
