Illinois hospital ensures one-day stay compliance to avoid RACs

One-day stays were frequent RAC targets during the three-year demonstration project, during which RACs found that 62% of errors in the inpatient hospital setting were due to medically unnecessary services or settings. That statistic is among the findings in the June 2008 CMS RAC Demonstration Project Evaluation Report.
