CMS updates revenue code description

On July 10, CMS issued Transmittal 1767 to change the description for revenue code 076X. The revenue code will take effect August 10. The new description for this revenue code is ‘Specialty Services.’ Transmittal 1767 states the following:
Charges for patients requiring treatment room services or patients placed under observation. FL 76 – Patient’s reason for visit should be reported in conjunction with 0762. Only 0762 should be used for observation services.
